New Delhi: Several key Delhi Metro corridors and major flyover projects are set for completion by Dec, with work gathering pace across priority stretches, chief minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday after reviewing ongoing work.Chairing a high-level meeting at the Delhi secretariat, Gupta said corridors such as Krishna Park extension to Deepali Chowk (around 6.6 km), Majlis Park to Derawal Nagar (3.5 km), Derawal Nagar to R.K. Ashram (7.4 km), Tughlakabad to Sangam Vihar (6.3 km), Sangam Vihar to Saket G Block (4.3 km) and Saket G Block to Aerocity (12.6 km) are targeted for completion by the end of this year. These projects are expected to significantly strengthen connectivity across the city.Officials said the Phase IV expansion of the network has progressed 80%. At present, Delhi Metro spans 416 km, covering 303 stations across 12 lines with 32 interchange stations. An additional 104.45 km with 81 stations is under construction. The chief minister said that some stretches under Phase IV such as Majlis Park to Maujpur, Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park and Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension are already operating.
Alongside the Metro expansion, flyover projects nearing completion would also ease congestion. A 2.16-km double-decker flyover from Azadpur to Tripolia Chowk, designed to carry both metro and road traffic, is about 73% complete, while a 1.40-km flyover from Yamuna Vihar to Bhajanpura has reached around 85% completion. In south Delhi, work is under way on a 2.48-km six-lane flyover from Saket G Block to Sangam Vihar along MB Road, along with underpasses at Saket G Block and Ambedkar Nagar. The project has achieved around 40% progress so far. Design and alignment work is also in progress for a 2.53-km flyover from Maa Anandmayee Marg to Pul Prahladpur, with issues such as ASI permissions, tree cutting and land acquisition being addressed.Officials said that work has begun on the remaining three Phase IV corridors — Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block, Inderlok to Indraprastha and Rithala to Kundli — with a completion timeline of March 2029. Phase V(A) projects, including RK Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, Aerocity to IGI Airport Terminal 1 and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj, have also been initiated.Gupta said the expansion of the network along with integrated road infrastructure will help reduce congestion and pollution while improving overall mobility in the capital. She directed officials to ensure regular monitoring and timely completion of all projects.
